Will The Previous Tawbah Get Invalid on Repeating Sin and How Can One Understand That He Did Repent Perfectly

Will The Previous Tawbah Get Invalid on Repeating Sin, and How Can One Understand That He Did Repent Perfectly

Will The Previous Tawbah Get Invalid on Repeating Sin

Truth: Your previous Tawbah is NOT cancelled if you sin again later

If your original Tawbah was sincere, then that sin is forgiven and wiped clean, even if you fall into the same sin again later.

📖 Evidence from Hadith (Sahih Muslim):

The Prophet ï·º said that a servant sinned and repented sincerely, then sinned again, and repented again, and this repeated.
Allah finally said:
“Let My servant do what he wants, for I have forgiven him — as long as he repents after each sin.”

🔹 This shows that each sincere repentance stands on its own.
🔹 The forgiveness is not reversed just because the person sins again later.

⚠️ When Does Tawbah Become Invalid?

Only if your original repentance was not sincere, meaning:

  • You had no real regret

  • You planned to return to the sin

  • You didn't stop the sin

Then, that "repentance" isn’t true Tawbah.

But if you truly:

  • Regretted the sin

  • Stopped it

  • Intended not to return

Then Allah accepted it, and the sin is forgiven — even if you fall again and need to repent anew.

🧠 Example:

You lied → felt guilty → repented sincerely → Allah forgave you
Later, you lied again → that’s a new sin → needs new Tawbah
But your first lie remains forgiven and is not put back on your record.

🌟 Final Point:

Allah’s mercy is greater than any sin.
Just make sure your heart is sincere each time, and never lose hope.

“Say, ‘O My servants who have wronged themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins.’”
Quran 39:53

But How Can You Be Sure That You Perfectly Repented?

Signs of a Sincere and Accepted Repentance (Tawbah):

  1. You regret the sin deeply

    • You feel guilt or sadness whenever you think about it.

  2. You stop doing the sin immediately

    • Even if it’s hard, you turn away from it.

  3. You truly intend never to do it again

    • Even if you fall later, at the time of Tawbah, your heart really wants to change.

  4. You try to fix the harm (if the sin involved someone else)

    • Like returning stolen property or asking someone for forgiveness.

💬 Bonus Signs of Sincere Tawbah:

  • Your heart feels softer and more connected to Allah

  • You start doing more good deeds

  • You fear going back to that sin

  • You make du’a, asking Allah to protect you from falling again

💡 Important Reminder:

You don't have to be perfect — you just have to be sincere.

If you repented with full regret, stopped the sin, and truly meant not to do it again — then your Tawbah is valid, in shaa Allah.

Allah knows what’s in your heart better than you do. If you tried your best, trust that Allah accepted it.

“Indeed, Allah knows what is in the breasts.”Quran 57:6

🌟 Final Word:

Don’t overthink. Do your best. Keep returning to Allah.
If your heart is humble and you seek Him, that’s a sign you’re already on the right path.
